INSTALLATION OPTIONS
There are a variety of ways to install rain gutter. The most common is Hidden Hangers. Any time the fascia board is flat and 2X, we use Hidden Hangers unless otherwise requested. The hangers are placed inside the gutter, 2 ft. – 2.6 ft. apart, with a 3 1/2″ screw inserted through the back of the hanger into the fascia. For a more decorative look fascia hangers can be used, these come in many shapes and styles.
Hidden Hangers
Hidden hangers are the most common installation method. They replace the old spike and ferrule. In the past when spikes were used over time they would work them selves out. With a hidden hanger the gutter is screwed on so that it can’t work itself loose. It also leaves the front of the gutter with a cleaner smoother look because the hidden hanger hooks into the front of the gutter not going through it like the old spikes did.
Roof Hangers
Roof hangers are required on some houses. If the house has crown molding fascia or other similar fascia then roof hangers are required. The use a strap that is installed on top of the roof. They are usually screwed through the shingles. Other application are when there is a crown molding fascia or whenever there is not a fascia board that can support the gutter.
Wedges
If the fascia is angled we recommend gutter wedges – a little extra money, but well worth it. A wedge on angled fascia will make sure that the gutter sits level allowing it to handle the most water possible.
T-Wedges
If the fascia is angled or has an inch board that is not wide enough to attached the rain gutter, we recommend t-wedges. The t-wedge acts as an extra support for the rain gutter. If a t-wedge is not used the rain gutter will mount below the inch board. This allows water to penetrate the wood behind the rain gutter.
